Works start for Foxton Solar Farm
Site preparation works for the Foxton Solar Farm will soon begin at Bergin Road, Foxton. As part of this early phase, land‑clearing activities will commence to prepare the site for future construction.
We have engaged ARC Asbestos Removal & Demolition, a licensed and experienced contractor, to manage all site preparation activities. Their team will ensure the work is undertaken safely, efficiently, and in line with environmental and regulatory requirements.
When is work taking place
Works are planned to begin in the coming months and are expected to take up to 26 weeks to complete.
The main stages of work include:
- Site establishment, including fencing, health and safety setup, signage installation, and initial vegetation control.
- Removal of surface waste and contaminated material in a safe and controlled manner.
- Scraping and capping soil in areas previously affected by asbestos contamination.
- Construction of a containment bund, a raised earth structure designed to safely hold CCA‑contaminated wood pulp.
- Bulk earthworks, using excavators, bulldozers and heavy machinery to level and prepare the site.
- Progressive reseeding of worked areas to support erosion control and stabilise the soil.
How we’re managing the work
To ensure works are carried out safely and responsibly, we will:
- Have licensed supervisors and trained staff managing all activities.
- Use dust‑suppression measures, such as water spraying, to minimise airborne dust.
- Keep noise to a minimum and operate only during approved hours (7:30 am – 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday) and (7:30am – 5:30pm) on Saturday.
- Monitor air quality regularly throughout the project.
- Separate, transport and dispose of all materials at approved recycling or landfill facilities.
What to expect
During work hours, nearby residents and road users may notice:
- Increased truck movements and activity around the site.
- Occasional noise and dust, which will be managed and monitored to ensure levels remain low.
- General preparation activity as the project progresses.
